Yoga nidra
Yoga nidra (“yoga sleep”) is a tantric method of work with mind. Prefix “ni” means “lower”, suffix “dra” means “drowsiness, sleepiness, quiet, non-active state”.
This practice achieve the changed state of mind where there is a physical “drowsiness” and a mental access to the spheres, “lower” than perception of the normal mind.
Your body is sleeping and your mind is staying awake. The mind is relaxed through the relaxation of psychological body and the surge of prana occurs in all cells. This unique practice was opened to the western world by Satyananda Sarasvati.
Yoga nidra is an intentional stop of mental activity and end of mind fluctuation. You can also call it “gymnastics for autonomous nervous system”.
